Boney James fills Hammond’s venue with hot jazz | Music
Boney James was recently in the home of Horseshoe Casino’s The Venue and jazz fans were thrilled.
The Grammy-winning saxophonist presented a 90-minute show filled with favorite songs from his collection as well as tunes from his latest album “Solid”.
The saxophonist, producer and songwriter, who is currently on tour to support “Solid”, which is his 17th album, gave a concert packed with jazzy sounds inspired by R&B. He often brought his show to Horseshoe Casino’s The Venue where he easily packs his bags.
For James’ concert this time, he was accompanied by bassist Marcus Miller in the first half.
Among the most notable tracks on James’ playlist were “Solid”, “Sweet Thing” by Chaka Khan and “Butter”, among others. James demonstrates a fluid playing style in concert and his enthusiasm for the saxophone shines through as he regularly roams the stage throughout his shows.
Opener Miller also proved to be an energetic performer and entertained audiences with tunes such as “Come Together” by the Beatles and an expressive and moving version of “How Great Thou Art”.
