JO Sproston, Director of the Joze School of Dance is proud to announce that six of her young dancers have successfully auditioned for the English Youth Ballet. They will perform alongside professional ballet dancers on stage at St George’s Hall in Bradford as part of a full performance of ‘Coppelia’ at the end of April.

The dancers are Tilda Downes-Davies, 13, Matilda Thorpe, 12, Amelia Merifield, 12, Millie England, 13 Susanna Thompson, 13 and Zara Whittaker, 13.

English Youth Ballet was founded in 1998. Founder and Director, Janet Lewis MBE, offers young ballet dancers outside of London a unique opportunity to experience life in a professional ballet company in performances of classical ballets in the regional theaters of England, Scotland and Wales.

Jo said: “This incredible opportunity will be made all the more important for the six girls involved as Covid restrictions have meant extremely limited chances to perform in public have been available to them for the past 22 months. The whole school de danse is proud of them and I hope many will be able to see the actual performance.”

Joze School of Dance runs classes in Ilkley for children and adults of all ages and abilities in classical ballet, contemporary dance, tap, jazz and dance theatre.
