Jazz vs Suns Picks and Predictions

Our predictions are compiled from spread and total analysis and are indications of where we are leaning for this game.
Our best bet is the game we like the most for this game, which we will actually put some of our bankroll behind.

Propagation analysis

The Suns are 28-11 ATS as six-or-less home favorites under head coach Monty Williams, and they’ve won those games averaging 8.8 points per game.

Phoenix has also lost straight only twice all season, so I expect the Suns to show some energy and play well tonight.

Even without Paul in the lineup, the Suns are doing pretty well against this Jazz team. Devin Booker is just as good as Donovan Mitchell and Deandre Ayton should be able to defend against Rudy Gobert.

The Suns also have a significant advantage on the wing in this game, as Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson are both superb players. Both should do well to challenge shots from Bojan Bogdanovic and Royce O’Neale and they will also make their marks at the other end of the field. Bridges is an excellent cutter and has a good midrange game, while Johnson is one of the best three-point shooters in basketball.

The Jazz are a very good basketball team and there is no denying that they have a chance to win this one. However, that line seems like an overreaction to Phoenix’s poor outing against New Orleans, so it’s just too much value to pass up with one of basketball’s best teams playing at home.

Prediction: Suns PK (-110)

Covers NBA betting analysis

Over/under analysis

The Unders struck the last time these two teams met, combining them to score just 202 points in a game with a total of 223.5. It was the second meeting between these teams this year, and they combined to score just 224 points in the first. This means that neither of the first two games exceeded the bar set on this game, but let’s not fall into the trap.

Without Paul, Phoenix won’t be at its best defensively, and we just saw the team give up 117 points in a last-game loss to New Orleans.

With that in mind, Utah should have no problem getting theirs tonight. The Suns also shouldn’t have a hard time looking good against a Jazz team that’s gone over the total in two of its last three.

Over the past two seasons, the Over is also 15-4 when Phoenix plays at home against teams that make 14 or more threes per game.

Prediction: More than 227 (-110)

Best bet

Booker didn’t cash in his assist against the Pelicans the other night, but that was just a very poor performance by the Suns. The Phoenix superstar will always be the focal point of this offense with Paul out and he’ll have to keep making plays for others with Payne also sidelined.

Expect Booker to continue racking up high assist numbers going forward, and don’t be surprised if he does as a passer tonight.

Booker should be able to beat his dribble man quite often in this game, as Utah’s offensive point defense can usually be a disaster. Getting into the paint is half the battle for Booker, who will make good reads once he’s around the basket.

Take: Devin Booker Over 6.5 assists (-120)
