JOSEPH “BRUIN” PAUL BUONO, 46, of Lapeer, passed away suddenly on January 21, 2022. He was born in Lapeer on April 20, 1975. Joe Buono was a rare individual. He had an unusual blend of intellect, courage, talent, compassion and a wonderful sense of humor.

As a professional counselor, he has worked with countless individuals and families over the years in Lapeer and Genesee counties. As a young professional, he worked as a liaison officer for the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department. He was also heavily involved in counseling through the church he attended. He was a deacon in his church and assisted in many aspects of the daily operations of the church. He was a devoted servant.

He was an incredibly gifted musician and played multiple instruments including keyboards, guitar, and trumpet. He performed as part of a local jazz band and also played trumpet in his church. He was also known to enjoy serenading a family cat or dog.

He loved his family. He considered himself a mama’s boy and he had a very special love for her.

He loved his friends. He stayed in touch and he was always ready to share a laugh, a tear or a prayer.

He loved his Lord. A few years ago he became a Christian. Her relationship with Jesus had a profound impact on her life. One of her great desires was for others to also receive salvation through Jesus Christ, especially her family, friends, and loved ones. But, he was also concerned about everyone he passed.
