DISTRICT OF ARTS Liberty Station is home to over 140 working artists, craft studios and more ready to help you learn a new skill or continue to master one. Embrace your inner artist with music and painting workshops or focus on your body’s health and wellness with dance and circus arts classes. No matter your age or skill level, there is something for everyone, with endless options.

Circus show

Learn the magic of the art of the circus with lessons at Flexion art, The Circus School is based on a conscious foundation that helps train your body not only for tough tricks, but for long term health. Class options include strength training for the circus arts, hand balance, contortion, flexibility and more! Owner Hanna Denham is a medical exercise specialist, personal trainer and group fitness specialist who is committed to providing training in traditional circus arts in an exceptional learning environment.

Arts and crafts workshops

Get savvy with a variety of courses at San Diego Craft Collective including weaving, macrame, woodworking, glass melting, etc. Learn the basics of knitting and crochet in a class at Apricot yarns and sourcing, then purchase their selection of threads, patterns and tools to create your own masterpieces. Commonly referred to as “underwater gardening,” create a living work of art in an aquarium during a hands-on workshop in Hakkai, San Diego’s first aquatic art gallery dedicated to aquascaping. Milk Oolong Studio as well as private lessons and take-away kits.

Painting, photography and more

Let your inner artist shine with a variety of art classes and workshops, including colored pencils and quilting at Karen Jones Fine Arts, watercolor workshops at San Diego Watercolor Society, mixed media workshops in all areas, from collage and painting in charcoal and stencils to Anne Gaffey. Plus, learn how to capture the art of capturing the moment in time with photography workshops at Outside the goal.

Dance classes from some of the best in San Diego

Slip on your dancing shoes with a variety of dance lessons from some of San Diego’s oldest professional dance organizations. Feel the rhythm during the modern weekly classes or enjoy contemporary, jazz, modern and ballet classes at malachock dance. To verify The Rosin Box project for traditional as well as contemporary, lyrical and groove ballet lessons available for all skill levels from beginner to advanced professional. Experience the magic with a variety of classes including ballet, tap dance, jazz, theater and belly dancing at San Diego Ballet. Music lessons for all ages

Whether you are a seasoned pro or are just starting to explore, Apt 4 Music offers music education sessions in all areas, from guitar and piano to drums and vocals for musicians of all ages. Introduce the art of music to the little hands in your life with music and movement lessons at Music of songbirds including Canta y Baila Conmigo, Music Together and Rhythm Kids, perfect for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. San Diego Youth SymphonyThe CHIMES program also proves that you are never too young to fall in love with music during their 8 weeks “On the Go!” “Transports” with songs and activities about cars, trucks, planes, trains and other things on the move from January 19 to March 12.

Ice skating at the Rady Children’s Rink

Start training for the Winter Olympics at the Rady’s Kids’ Rink. In partnership with NTC Foundation and
Auxiliary at Rady Children’s Hospital, the outdoor ice rink is located on the scenic Central Promenade at ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. All proceeds from the rink go to the Thriving After Cancer program at the Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Rady Children’s Hospital. This year, additional safety protections will be put in place, including hand hygiene stations and a disinfectant spray for skates and helmets. Tickets cost $ 15 for adults, $ 13 for children, and $ 10 for military personnel or groups of more than 10 people. Tickets are available for purchase online here and the ice rink will operate until January 9.
