Music: Vernon Chorale to present a winter concert December 4th | Free time

The Vernon Chorale will give its first live concert of the season on Saturday December 4 at Saint-Bernard Church in Vernon.

“Love Came Down at Christmas” will feature songs describing the positive message and traditions of the Christmas season. The program includes a variety of music ranging from traditional Christmas carols to contemporary choral works.

Cochren & Co., a Christian band from Nashville, will bring their only concert from the 2021 New England Christmas tour to the Rockville section of Vernon to perform a Christmas concert on Thursday, December 2nd.

Doors open at 6:30 pm Part one, Cade Thompson, will begin at 7:00 pm, followed by Cochren & Co. at 7:30 pm.

The concert is organized by and will take place at Union Church, 3 Elm St. Admission is free; the dress is casual. A voluntary donation will be taken to help with expenses.

Airs from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s will be presented in a free concert on Saturday, December 4 at 2 p.m. at the Manchester Public Library.

The Survivors Swing Band, a seven-piece professional jazz band based in Connecticut, plays tunes from the swing era.

No registration is required for this free concert.

Unitarian Universalist Society: East, 53 Vernon St. West, Manchester, will host a live benefit concert on Saturday, December 4 at 7 p.m. by former Connecticut State troubadour Lara Herscovitch.

Proceeds will be used to help black and brown youth in Manchester through donations to the Power Up CT youth program, Empower U.

Tickets cost $ 10. The virtual ticket office will close at 6 p.m. on the day of the concert.

The Hartford Symphony Orchestra hosts the holidays with Tchaikovsky and Grieg, Friday through Sunday, December 3-5, at the Belding Theater at Bushnell in Hartford.

This Christmas swing performance will feature iconic Vince Guaraldi songs that debuted on two TV specials featuring Charles Schulz’s Peanuts gang: “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “A Boy Named Charlie Brown”.
