Record Store Day announces list of Black Friday 2021 releases
With the end of summer and the holiday season approaching, it’s time to Record Store Day to unveil its list of Black Friday offers. After 2020 and 2021 saw the stunted and staggered releases of Record Store Day split into “Drops” dates, the November 26 celebration of all things vinyl will take place at the same time in record stores across the United States. Aerosmith 1971: the road begins – Boston 1971: A historic recording of Aerosmith in their rehearsal room – just the band, crew and friends captured on Joe Perry’s tape recorder. This all-new performance showcases the raw early talents of this future Hall Of Fame band, a year before signing with Columbia Records, and two years before their eponymous debut, which featured several of these songs, including their timeless anthem “Dream At”.
All witches LIVE ON THE INTERNET – All Them Witches is known for its long and loud live shows. In 2020, the group released their critically acclaimed album, Nothing As The Ideal. An album release from this group was traditionally followed by an 18-month long tour of the world, but due to an international pandemic, the group’s touring plans were halted. That didn’t stop All Them Witches from gathering in a studio to broadcast a set live for their fans. The set was warmly received as an incredible performance, and fans immediately questioned whether or not this show would be available on vinyl.
Angelo Badalamenti Blue Velvet (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) (Deluxe Edition) – Generally considered to be one of the 50 best soundtracks of all time, Angelo Badalamenti’s dark original score was complemented by a handful of powerful songs highlighted in the film, including Roy Orbison and Julee Cruise. It was the first time Angelo and David Lynch had worked together and the couple are now successful. Both men have been heavily involved in this expansion of the Deluxe Edition, contributing to the new liner and shaping the audio program, which comes directly from the unedited soundtracks. Bobby Vinton’s “Blue Velvet” was also added to the tracklist for the first time. Pressed onto marbled blue vinyl, and the album cover features original Italian movie poster art designed by Enzo Sciotti.
Big Brother & The Holding Company (with Janis Joplin) Combination of the two: Live at the Monterey International Pop Festival – Big Brother performed at the Monterey Pop Festival on Saturday June 17 and Sunday June 18, 1967. Both sets are included in this RSD Black Friday release pressed onto psychedelic colored vinyl in a high-gloss jacket.
Canned heat Friends in the box – For the first time on vinyl, a starred album with Canned Heat “friends” like John Lee Hooker, Taj Mahal, Mike Finnigan, Roy Rogers, Walter Trout, as well as Canned Heat alumni Fito de la Parra, Larry Taylor , Harvey Mandel.
Sam cooke The first mile of the path – To celebrate the 75th anniversary of Specialty Records, a new compilation by Sam Cooke featuring tracks from his Specialty catalog focusing on his pop tracks as well as live recordings from the legendary 1955 Shrine concert that had never been available on vinyl previously.
Chick Corea & Lionel Hampton In Concert: Live at MIDEM 1978 – An exciting concert recording featuring two of jazz greats, Corea and Hamp, live from the MIDEM Jazz Gala in Cannes, France. Remastered and reissued on 180g clear crystal vinyl, the first vinyl pressing in four decades. The presses feature individual hand numbering.
David Crosby and Graham Nash Wind on the water – Wind on the Water is the second album by David Crosby and Graham Nash, originally released on ABC Records in 1975. This colorful version of RSD Black Friday is the first time since 1980 that it has been re-released with original artwork.
The Jimi Hendrix experience Paris 67 – Another stunning release from Jimi Hendrix Dagger Records official “bootleg label”, this live two-track recording from the Olympia Theater in Paris was captured for French national radio and documents the triumphant return of the Experience to France by a year from the date of their debut in 1966. Recorded October 9, 1967, The Experience was in great shape, roaring out of the door with “Stone Free”, and following up with vibrant renditions of “Hey Joe” , “Fire”, “The Wind Cries Mary” and “Catfish Blues.” “Rock Me Baby” and a compact “Red House” preceded a muscular and muscular take of “Purple Haze”, followed by “Wild Thing” , filled with a catchy and ironic lead voice that emphatically closed the show. Released for RSD Black Friday on mixed red and blue vinyl.

Small feat Electrif Lycanthrope: Live at Ultra-Sonic Studios, 1974 – Nestled between classic LP releases Dixie Chicken and Feats Don’t Fail Me Now and performed for a small and intimate studio audience, this recording finds Little Feat in its prime, live from Ultrasonic Studios in Hempstead, NY on September 9. 1974.
Often considered their “best” line-up, this recording features the 1974 version of Little Feat featuring Lowell George (Guitar, Vocals), Paul Barrere (Guitar, Vocals), Kenny Gradney (Bass), Richie Hayward (Drums, Vocals) Sam Clayton (percussion, vocals) and Bill Payne (keyboards). With clips of this performance only previously available as a legendary ’70s bootleg, this release of RSD Black Friday marks the first time the full-length performance has been available, straight from the original pre-FM broadcast tapes, and is a hit. excellent introduction to one of the best outfits in rock ‘n’ roll, but criminally unrecognized. The recording captures the band releasing songs from what are arguably two of their top three studio albums, at the peak of their chemistry.
Motörhead The Lost Tapes Vol. 1 (Live in Madrid 1995) – Unpublished live album, created from a collection of tapes recently discovered in the Lemmy archives. This show was recorded in Madrid, Spain in 1995 during the Sacrifice tour and sees the band at their best.

Bobby rush 50th anniversary chicken heads – Bobby Rush’s biggest hit, “Chicken Heads”, celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2021. In recognition of this milestone, Bobby commissioned Gov’t Mule, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram and Buddy Guy to record reimagined versions of the runway in their own unique styles. This release will include all three versions of the song, as well as a brand new recording of Bobby Rush’s track inspired by over 50 years of performing the song live to audiences around the world.
Tank and the Bangas The great outdoors – Tank and The Bangas have spent the whole of 2021 working on their new album which will be released in 2022. Two of the most exciting songs are: BIG and Outside
