THROUGH THE DARKROOM

The Grooveliner will bring their brand of power-funk to the Dark Room on June 11.

The dark room
(3610 Place Grandel, 314-710-5643)St. Louis’ premier destination for jazzy shows and tasty cocktails, opens its doors again next month for a series of shows.

The June roster includes performances by electro-acoustic trio Vehachi, funk/soul band The Grooveliner and saxophonist Kelvin Evans, among others. Tickets for each show range from $10 to $25 and can be purchased at metrotix.com.

As has been the case for a few months now, the Dark Room is currently only open for shows and special events. It’s been the business since October, when the venue finally reopened to the public after a lengthy COVID-related closure. Meanwhile, acts that would normally perform on his stage have started playing outside the venue for his Open Air series, as the outdoors is decidedly a safer option in times of a pandemic.

Since these times are not yet in the rearview mirror, despite our collective desire as a society for them to be, the Darkroom operates on a tiered system of COVID safety precautions. When community spread is low, as is currently the case, the venue does not require a mask or proof of vaccination to enter. If the numbers don’t look so good, these measures will be in place. The Darkroom is currently in the middle of a lineup of shows in May as well; for a complete list of these, go to its official website. Check out the June shows below:
