Steinway Launches New Royal Albert Hall Limited Edition Grand Piano in Aid of Fundraising Event
Steinway has partnered with the Royal Albert Hall to launch eight limited edition grand pianos in a bid to give the Hall a helping hand, after the venue was plunged into financial crisis by the pandemic.
The collaboration kicked off with an intimate concert by Steinway artists Igor Levit and Aisa Ijiri at the Hall on September 23.

The partnership will also include a new concert series – The Steinway Series – dedicated to the promotion of up-and-coming musicians, which begins on November 19. Taking place in the Elgar Hall, the series will feature classical and jazz artists such as Elisabeth Brauß, Niji Adeleye, Amiri Harewood and Roella Oloro.
Guido Zimmermann, President of Steinway & Sons Europe, said: “We are very proud of our relationship with the Royal Albert Hall and have created an exceptionally designed instrument in honor of its 150th anniversary. It has been a difficult time for the entire music community around the world, but with the return of the Hall, it seems like a fantastic and fitting way to commemorate the occasion. We look forward to seeing our partnership grow closer and closer, spreading the joy of music for all. ”
Manufactured at the company’s Hamburg plant, the design and creation of the limited-edition Steinway Royal Albert Hall took over 18 months.
It features a hand-engraved outline of the Grade I Listed Hall – one of the UK’s most valuable and distinctive buildings – on the outside of the piano cover. Inside, an engraving depicting the hall’s glass and iron dome roof, with additional nods to the building’s iconic shape on the music stand and numbered brass plaque.
